My NexT DooR NeighboR

Who would have thought that my very next door neighbor of 14 months is a celebrity! We've met them and every once in a while when we get the chance to see outside we chat or say hi. John, works in a tv station and the wife, Pattie, I don't know what she does for a living. How did I found out about her? Hmmm...

Last Thursday Randy had his doctor appointment at 7:00am. You know I'm a bit of a sucker for popular issues or something like that. Heath Ledger died that week. I got up around 5am, turned the tv on and watched news. Lo and behold, The reporter looked very familiar. I called Randy in the other room and asked him if this woman is our next door neighbor. Indeed, she is. Her name is Pattie Shieh (pronounced Shey) from Fox News 26 (i think). That is only here in Houston, that's all.

Sssshhhh... Randy told me not to write about her in my blog... too late. i just did...lol.

FoSTeR Is SicK

Foster had diarrhea last week. I blamed it on the fruit juice that I'm giving him. I read that toddlers/kids should consume not more than six ounces of fruit juice a day. Foster is taking more than that so there you go...

Like i've said he had diarrhea for a week or so and then last Saturday he was doing fine. I was kind of guilty for not taking Foster out to play. I was justifying it by saying it's too cold outside. But last Saturday was nice and a little bit warm. Foster grabbed his diaper bag, gave it to me, headed on the back door and kept saying "sy" (means slide... our community playground). Since it was nice outside I obliged. Instead of pulling him in the wagon I drove him all the way to the playground. Its a little bit cold even if its sunny.

We had fun in the plaground. When we got back and a few hours later I felt Foster was hot. Sobrang init. In the last two days I kept checking his temperature (I used rectal thermometer because they said its the most accurate daw), gave him Tylenol every six hours, constantly pouring water on his head. I was really worried.

We were able to take him to the doctor only this afternoon. The doctor seen nothing wrong with Foster. No ear infection, no sore throat. So he took some saliva culture (am i right again? lol) to check if he's got strep throat (wala din). This time the nurse came back to get another sample for flu (wala din). Syempre natakot kami. This time blood sample naman. It tested positive for viral infection... I heaved a sigh of relieved and thankful na rin kase hindi tipong mysterious na kealangan naming pumunta sa hospital or specialist. Kahit ear infection okay lang basta walang grabeng sakit... yun lang

I miss the Asawa site... anyway since wala na ang asawa.org Visa Journey naman ang binibisita ko for updates on immigration. Akala ko may timeline din ang I-751 (Removal of conditional residence status...am i right?) doon kaya lang hanggang AOS (Adjustment Of Status) lang sila. Maganda kase kung nakikita mo yung progress ng papers mo that you filed on USCIS at more or less alam mo kung kelangan mo na mag follow up sa USCIS.

Anyway, dahil walang timeline for I-751, gumawa ang mga taga vj ng sarili nila sa isang forum. Sa mga friends ko na almost one year na ang application alam nyo ba na may ibang nag file last September at may 10 year green card na sila? Here's my timeline naman:

Sent I-751- - - December 22, 2007

Received by USCIS --- December 26, 2007

NOA --- January 08, 2008

Biometrics Notice --- January 15, 2008

Biometrics --- February 02, 2008

That's all!

I miss reading my friends' blog. Honestly, I feel guilty because all my friends' tots are doing great especially with their language development. Foster is talking a lot nowadays though unclear. His favorite word is "truck" (its making me and Randy sick...lol). He'd say "sly" for slide (sa playground), "ga" for yogurt, "co" for cold water, "hmmm" whenever he sees food on tv, magazines or when he's hungry. He's fond of saying "uh-oh" too. He can identify pictures/images in the books and tv...

Foster on Toddler Diarrhea

Bad move for giving Foster regular fruit juice. Now he has diarrhea for almost a week now. I read online that one of the cause is excessive intake of fruit juice especially apple juice because of "sorbitol." Now, Foster's bum has huge rashes and when he had loose bowels he cringed in pain and cries. Thank God I still have the Drapolenes. He stop crying as soon as I applied the ointment on his bum. I really feel bad for him... so guilty. I feel I'm a bad mom.

Foster on Throwing Tantrums

Foster threw tantrums on a regular basis. Its making me sick already. I read online that the best way is to ignore instead of yelling (which I don't do) or reinforcing "negative rewards." Yeah yeah yeah, its all my fault because I spoiled him. Now he's suffering. I'll try my best to be the mom that I should be to him.
